Redefining Mountain Living: Su Casa's Design Expertise at Tempus Ridge

Carved into the mountains bordering Yarrow, BC, Tempus Ridge is not your average mountain development. When DJC Ventures—a developer known for their attention to detail—approached us with a vision for a new kind of luxury living, we were immediately intrigued.

Their vision?

Contemporary estate homes seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape, avoiding the disruptive clear-cutting of trees so common to land developments. Every detail mattered—from placement to design—ensuring each home maximized valley views while maintaining privacy for residents. This commitment to thoughtful design mirrored our own philosophy at Su Casa, and we were eager to embark on this project with a focus on collaboration and innovation.

Embracing the Challenge: Design Solutions for a Unique Landscape

The success of Tempus Ridge is due to an embrace of the challenging terrain. Building large, contemporary estate homes on a mountainside is no easy feat, but with a lot of coordination, and even more creativity, we're proud of the stunning collection of homes that has now emerged. Here’s how we did it:

Integrating Nature and Privacy

Building on DJC's carefully selected and prepared sites, Su Casa designed homes to fit within the natural tree groves intentionally preserved on each lot. This was about more than just retaining trees; it was about creating homes that eased into the surrounding nature. Our homes are positioned to follow the contour of the land, with expansive windows strategically placed to capture valley views and year-round sunlight. Staggered lot placement and thoughtful positioning of decks and patios further ensured privacy for residents, even on slopes where lines of sight were challenging. These solutions eliminated the need for excessive fencing while maintaining each home's connection to the outdoors.

Modern Mountain Home Design With a Twist

Clean lines, natural materials like wood and stone, and an earth-tone palette define the residential style of Tempus Ridge. The design highlights exposed beams and expansive windows paired with rough-hewn stone accents, creating a modern interpretation of the classic mountain lodge.

DJC trusted Su Casa to uphold the overall design direction of the project while accommodating the unique preferences of each homeowner. This collaborative approach involved working closely with each client to integrate their specific vision—such as one home, which blends elements of both contemporary and French Country design. Our design team ensured this feature complemented the development's colour and material palette, resulting in a distinctive yet harmonious home (below).

Another property (below) boasts a Japanese-inspired water feature that connects the front yard with the backyard beneath a suspended walkway. These bespoke elements ensure each home reflects the owner's personality while creating a cohesive, yet unique, community at Tempus Ridge.

Designing Beyond Limits

At Su Casa, we're committed to pushing design boundaries—Tempus Ridge is a testament to that commitment. Open communication, creative problem-solving, and a shared vision with the developer...that's the recipe for success at Tempus Ridge. It's a powerful reminder that collaboration isn't just about getting the job done; it's about igniting creativity and coming up with out-of-the-box solutions that actually work.
